Feliway Friends®

What is it used for? 

Feliway Friends® was developped to reduce tension between cats living in the same household when they don't get along. They can even become aggressive towards one another other, often leading to fights, chasing, and intimidation. 

This product can be used when conflicts develop following the arrival of a new cat or when there is an existing conflict between cats living together.

What are pheromones? 

Pheromones are chemical stimulants that act as messengers between individuals of the same species. Feliway Friends® contains synthetic pheromones that were created to mimic the natural pheromones produced by cats. This product has no effect on humans or other animals. 

Cats can produce multiple types of pheromones. For instance, there are facial pheromones that they put on objets by rubbing their cheeks on them. This process allows the cat to mark his territory and lets other cats know that this territory is already claimed. 

There are also maternal pheromones that cats produce when they give birth and during lactation. These pheromones are calming and reassuring. They work to strenghthen the bond between a mother and her kittens. Feliway Friends® produces this type of pheromone.  

What formulation does Feliway Friends® come in?

It is available as an electronic diffuser. We recommend plugging it in a room where the cats pass most of their time. Multiple diffusers can be used if the cats mainly stay in different rooms. 

It is more ideal to place a single diffuser in the room where the aggressive cat sleeps if the use of multiple diffusers is not preferred. It is useless to place the diffuser in a room where disagreements occur because the cats will rarely be in that location.
