Progut® Plus

This is a tasty and hypoallergenic natural nutritional supplement. It contains probiotics, prebiotics, clay, digestive enzymes, B complex vitamins (paste only), and N-acetyl-glucosmine (powder only).

It is used in cats and dogs to facilitate digestion and improve stool texture. It may also be used to prevent the development of diarrhea in animals treated with antibiotics.

Progut® Plus paste is particularly useful for animals suffering from acute digestive conditions and who would benefit from a fast acting solution to their condition.

Probiotics are «good» bacteria which replace the «good» bacteria normally present in the intestine and which are often lost during digestive diseases causing diarrhea. These probiotics improve the balance and resistance of the intestinal flora faced with aggressions.

The capsules in which they are found are resistant to stomach acid. This allows them to survive in the acid environment of the stomach and make it intact into the small intestine where they can act.

The prebiotics, on the other hand, are nutrients that only probiotics can feed on and digest. This promotes their development in the intestine and allows them optimal functioning.

The clay contained in the Progut® Plus works by binding to toxins present in the intestine and preventing them from being absorbed.

The digestive enzymes help the intestinal cells to break down protein and starch, reducing the size of these molecules which can then be more easily absorbed by the organism.

The Beta-glucanes are polysaccharides which improve the functioning of macrophages, an immune system cell that isolates and destroys foreign bodies such as bacteria and toxins.

In the paste formula, there are different B complex vitamins (B2, B5 and B6) which help the product to act faster by working in collaboration with the probiotics, by promoting the absorption of potassium in the cells and by improving the transformation of fat, carbohydrates and protein into energy.

In the powder formula, we find N-acetyl-glucosamine which is part of the basic structure of the intestinal mucosa and which protects the cells of the intestine against the enzymes, acids, and bacterial toxins and allows for the selective absorption of nutrients.

Paste

Administer the amount of paste indicated below directly into your pet’s mouth every 6 to 8 hours until the tube is finished or as recommended by the veterinarian, according to the ideal body weight of the animal:

• Less than 5 kg = 1-3 ml;
• Between 5 and 10 kg = 5 ml;
• Between 10 and 15 kg = 10 ml;
• Between 15 and 25 kg = 15 ml
• Over 25 kg = 20 ml

Powder

Administer the amount of powder indicated by the number of scoops (provided with the product) each day, directly in the mouth or mixed with food. The dose may be doubled and administered twice a day as needed:

• Less than 5 kg = ½ scoop;
• Between 5 and 10 kg = 1 scoop;
• Between 10 and 15 kg = 1 ½ scoop;
• Between 15 and 25 kg = 3 scoops;
• Over 25 kg = 4 scoops.

Paste:

Turn the wheel to the desired amount. Insert the tip of the syringe into the corner of the animal’s mouth. When the mouth opens, push the piston until it touches the wheel. 

Powder:

Empty the contents of one sachet on food.

Stop administration of the product and consult a veterinarian if the condition of the animal worsens or does not improve.
