Origins and History: One of the oldest breeds around, it was once believed that they were
issued from the cross between a raccoon and a wild cat. However, this theory was dismissed as
being biologically impossible. The Maine Coon is most probably a mix between Angora cats,
English cats, Russian cats, Scandinavian cats and short-haired farm cats in America.
Personality: A dominant cat, they are however not aggressive. They are calm, sociable, loving
and playful, as well as great athletes.
Additional notes: The females reach their sexual maturity at a later age. They are slow-growing
kittens and will only reach adult age between the ages of 3 and 4 years old.
