Lactogenisis in dogs

Separate the babies gradually from the mother, you should wait 2 days before removing another baby.

Once the last baby has been removed, you must begin fasting the mother.

• Day 1; 24 hours without food and water
• Day 2; 1/3 of her ration in food and water
• Day 3; ½ of her ration of food and water.

During the suppression of lactation, you should apply cold compresses on her teats. Do not massage/knead them since this can stimulate milk production.

If after 2-3 days, your dog's teats become engorged, communicate with your veterinarian.
